Potpourri

After getting rid of my SBC DSL (motto: we strive to retain our World's Worst Customer Service title) connection, and then mooching off my generous neighbor's wireless network, at long last, I have fixed up an appointment with Comcast cable today. Hopefully everything will work out and I will be all set to roll with my own internet connection soon! If I have complaints about Comcast too, you will read about it soon enough on your friendly neighborhood blog :-P.

To give my chance at becoming the next ARR my very best shot, I bought a keyboard to practise my lessons :-D. A cool Yamaha keyboard. It isn't very high-end - yet, it seems to have a lot of features. My heart sank when I realized that I did not even know the meaning of most of the terms on the keyboard and when I realized that reading the keyboard manual would be a separate task in itself. Nevertheless, I rallied around and am diligently practising. Glad to tell you that at long last my left hand now plays chords instead of automatically following my right hand (in case you are beginning to get impressed, let me inform you: I am talking about nursery rhymes and the like here).

Apparently my area had a mild earthquake today. I say apparently because I happily and peacefully slept right through it. I came to know about it only when a local friend sent a mail enquiring if I had felt the vibrations too. While I am totally thrilled that I slept so well that I was unaware of rattling beds and windows, I am kinda worried too. 'Coz, you see, in case it was the real thing, I would probably be waving to you all from heaven by now (yeah, I am super-confident that a noble, nice and wonderful person like me will go to heaven only ;-)).

And that brings us to the conclusion of this pointless post :-D.

Update: I just got cable internet connection. Am typing this from home. The speed is blazing :-D! Now, here's to hoping that this will last ...

Earthquakes, ah!´I've experienced one. Itz kinda weird. It's more a funny feeling than a scary one the first time ( assumption: its a mild tremor )
Good luck with your comcast!.

Ok on a serious note, I am sure if it was higher on the richter scale you would have immediately jumped out from the bed ...so dont worry. And if only these earthquakes were not a threat to life, I wud acually dont mind the shake, like you are on some cosmic ride or something! :-). ..

Thanu, I guess sleep is more important to me...lol! That's one rumor which I really hope is not true!!

Rahul, I have experienced a couple of them before I guess - as you said, its interesting when its not destructive!!

Prabhu - ada paavi, enna mela anapparadha-la ivalavu santhosham X-(! Well, if the keyboard survived the earthquake, there is a good chance that I survived it too :-P!

Archana - hehehe :-D - my colleagues and other friends told me that they did not feel anything either - I glad to know that I am not the only sleeping beauty!!

Felt a tremor once when everyone was asleep. I had a broken leg then, so could not run out, no one believed me till they saw it on news next morning.

Saranya - do earthquakes also have seasons (like mango season) :-O!?! Unlike mangoes, I don't want them :-(! Comcast is so far, sooooooo good :-D!

Spark - Are you asking if this is a desi post or are you asking for a desi version of this post? Either way, I don't understand :-P!

You did it! Survived an earthquake, mastered a synthesizer, weathered the speed of your cable internet. seems like quite an achievement, and hey! I am no less, see I am sick with flu and living on medication and here commenting.

Robbie - oh poor you! Getting the flu is awful - get well soon!

Kuttichuvaru - LOL :-) - I did not notice that connection. Hmm, maybe I shd use headphones from now for practising - hopefully that will reduce the impact ;-)!

I remember the tremors we felt on the day of tsunami in chennai. I too was asleep and I felt as if somebody was rocking me...It almost lasted for a minute...it may sound weird but I somehow thought that my dog zorro had climbed the bed and he was jumping around...but when I finally got to see the news...it is history now!

LOL at Kutti's comments !

I see a break-through in Earthquake predictions...maybe they are all linked so some-one *trying* to learn to play the keyboard :-D

Prasanna - I don't think your reaction was weird! I think my sleepy reaction would have been to think that my neighbors were being more noisy and jumpy than usual!! That must have been really scary though - when you saw the news!

Shilpa - ellarukm sireenga-yaa. When I become famous, you will all be forced to eat your words - hahahaa ;-P!
